Travel

Visitors arriving in Cyprus by air may only enter the Republic through the International airports situated in Paphos and Larnaca. Scheduled flights offered by the national airline, Cyprus Airways, and approximately 30 other major airlines link Cyprus to most major cities in Europe, Africa and Asia. Development plans for both airport will see them handling more than 2.7 passengers per annum, making access easy if you choose to buy a Cyprus Property.

Transport in Cyprus

In Cyprus you drive on the left, as in the UK. Visitors from any country are allowed to drive in Cyprus using a valid driving licence from their own country or an international driver's licence. Distances between towns are relatively short and are joined by a good network of roads and motorways, with further road expansion planned as part of the ongoing investment in infrastructure, so if you buy a villa in Cyprus, travelling within the country is as easy as getting there in the first place.

Ports in Cyprus

Seaborn traffic is served in Cyprus by a modern and highly integrated national port system composed of:

  • the new multipurpose ports of Limassol and Larnaca
  • the new industrial port of Vassiliko
  • the three specialized oil terminals at Larnaca, Dhekelia and Moni

All port facilities on the island are under the jurisdiction of the Cyprus Ports Authority and their activities and development are centrally planned, coordinated and supervised for efficiency and effectiveness.

Situated within an area of less than 40 nautical miles, and being part of the same enterprise, Cypriot ports complement each other in terms of facilities and traffic, constituting one larger port in effect. Together they serve all types of cargo and jointly cater to the country's local and transit traffic requirements as if they were a single port.

The Cyprus Ports Authority is a public autonomous organisation responsible for the management and operation of the ports of the country. Its jurisdiction extends over all port areas of Cyprus, covering ownership and running of the major port installations of the island
