Between the Paphos forest on the right and the Akamas peninsular on the left lies the cultured, historic town of Polis with its twinned village of Latchi, a charming fishing port. There is also a varied landscape of gorges, valleys and underground caves surrounding the villages for exploration.

Polis is a relaxed coastal town with many coffee shops and restaurants. Its coast stretches from Pyrgos in the East to the Baths of Aphrodite's and Akamas Nature Reserve in the West. It is a little more remote and quite different to other areas on the southern side of Cyprus, with a series of sandy bays, rocky outcrops and mountains plunging into the sea. Fields of pecan, banana, peach, citrus and olive surround the area and generally speaking tourism has not had much of an effect on this lovely part of the country, making it ideal to buy a property in Polis if you want a more quiet and undisturbed atmosphere.

Latchi, just up the coast from Polis, has a beautiful fishing harbour and a collection of shops and fish tavernas. The resort has grown in recent years and now includes a number of tourist shops, bars and banking facilities.

Argaka is a wonderfully peaceful coastal village 10 minutes on from Polis with a number coffee shops and tavernas serving locally grown food. It is on the edge of the Akamas national park and hence very popular with nature lovers and those seeking a tranquil lifestyle. There are also extensive beaches in the area.
