Islamic is the country’s national religion and most Turkish people are Sunni Muslims and more moderate than its Middle Eastern adjacent countries. This is more noticeable in the major cities and coastal areas, however in the less developed and eastern regions women typically cover their heads with a headscarf. Turkish women tend to dress in Western style in the major cities and coastal areas. The major religious holidays such as Ramadan are adhered to. There are many bars and restaurants and alcohol is freely available and many Turkish people partake in a drink or two.

The population is young and rapidly growing with over 70% of the population under 30 years old, and 60% of the population now living in urban areas, including Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara and Antalya. The Turkish people are extremely hospitable and friendly and there is a strong tradition of family life and values, making the choice to buy property in Turkey the first step to experiencing the culture of this beautiful country whenever you desire.
